As a physiotherapist I have always wanted to provide a service to individuals that surpass their expectations. A simple concept, to provide the very best physiotherapy service tailored to an individual’s need.

Combining my experiences and my passion to provide this level of service, I am pleased to introduce BackusHealth.

About Alastair

Alastair Backus graduated from Manchester School of Physiotherapy in 2000 with a BSc Honours degree and since then has enjoyed working and living in a variety of settings in both the UK and overseas.

Shortly after qualifying Alastair worked for Manchester United Football Club as a physiotherapist, working alongside a team of exceptional clinicians he gained experience in assessing, treating and rehabilitating elite athletes.

Alastair spent several years working as a senior physiotherapist on intensive care units and coronary care units for the NHS whilst also running his own successful musculoskeletal clinic in the North West of England.

Alastair took the opportunity to work in China and was appointed as the lead physiotherapist at a pain and rehabilitation clinic in Shanghai where he was involved in establishing the clinic and developing corporate health strategies.

After returning back to the UK Alastair worked as a senior specialist in orthopaedics at Manchester Royal Infirmary, one of Britain’s largest teaching hospitals before returning home to Devon to set up BackusHealth.
